Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our workshops

Workshop Basics

What exactly do I build during the workshop?

A complete financial tracking dashboard using spreadsheet software. It includes income and expense tracking, a cash flow calendar showing when bills hit versus when you get paid, automated savings transfer setup, spending alerts, subscription tracking, and visual charts showing where your money goes. You build this using your actual financial data, not generic examples.

How long is the workshop?

Three hours. That includes building your dashboard, setting up automations, testing the system, and asking questions about your specific situation. We keep groups small so everyone finishes with a working system before leaving.

Do I need financial knowledge to attend?

No. If you can open a spreadsheet and understand basic addition and subtraction, you can build these systems. We explain everything step by step. The workshop teaches tracking methods, not advanced financial concepts.

Is this investment advice or financial planning?

No. These workshops teach tracking and visibility only. We do not provide investment recommendations, tax strategies, debt repayment advice, or financial planning services. You learn how to see where your money goes. What you do with that information is your decision.

How many people attend each workshop?

Maximum eight participants. Small groups ensure everyone gets individual attention when they encounter setup challenges or have questions about their specific financial situation.

Requirements & Preparation

What do I need to bring?

Your laptop with spreadsheet software installed (Excel, Google Sheets, or similar). Two to three months of bank and credit card statements. Recent pay stubs showing your net income. A list of known recurring subscriptions. Online banking login access if you want to set up automated transfers during the workshop.

What software do you use?

Standard spreadsheet software you already have. Excel, Google Sheets, or any compatible program. We do not require expensive software purchases or subscriptions. The tracking systems work with basic spreadsheet functionality.

Do I need to share my financial information with you?

No. Your financial data stays on your laptop. We guide you through building the system, but you work with your own information. We do not collect, store, or access your banking details, account balances, or transaction history.

Can I attend if I use banking apps already?

Yes. The dashboard we build can work alongside banking apps or replace them entirely. Many participants want more control and customization than apps provide. Others want a system that does not require ongoing subscriptions. The spreadsheet-based approach gives you full ownership of your tracking data.

What if I am not comfortable with spreadsheets?

We teach the necessary spreadsheet skills during the workshop. If you can type in cells and click buttons, you can build these systems. The formulas are simple and we explain what each one does. Previous spreadsheet experience helps but is not required.

Who Should Attend

Who are these workshops designed for?

Young Canadian professionals in their first five years of career. Recent graduates starting full-time positions. Career changers adjusting to new income levels. Anyone who has regular income but lacks clear visibility into where it goes each month. People tired of paycheck-to-paycheck cycles who want to understand their spending patterns.

What if I am beyond my first five career years?

The tracking methods work for anyone, but the examples and scenarios focus on early-career situations. Student loan payments, entry-level salaries, building first emergency funds, adjusting to full-time income. If those match your current situation regardless of career length, the workshop will be relevant.

Can I bring a partner or friend?

Yes. Each person needs their own laptop and registration. Couples often attend together to build a shared household tracking system. Friends sometimes register together for mutual accountability in maintaining their dashboards afterward.

What if I already budget but still run out of money?

That is exactly who these workshops serve. Budgeting theory differs from tracking reality. Many people create budgets but do not track actual spending consistently. The dashboard makes real spending visible and compares it to planned amounts. Gaps between intention and reality become obvious.

After the Workshop

How long until I see results?

Your dashboard is functional immediately. Real insights come after tracking for a full month, when spending patterns become visible. Most participants report clarity about their spending within two to three weeks of consistent tracking.

What if I have questions after the workshop?

Email support is included. Questions about setup, maintenance, or customization are answered via email. Most questions involve minor formula adjustments or adding new tracking categories as your situation changes.

How much time does maintenance require?

Ten to fifteen minutes weekly once automated. You review transactions, confirm automated transfers executed, and check spending against limits. Monthly reviews take thirty minutes to update categories and analyze patterns. The automation handles most tracking automatically.

Can I customize the system after building it?

Yes. The dashboard is yours to modify. Add categories, change formulas, adjust automation rules. We provide the structure and teach the methods. You adapt it to your changing needs. Reference materials show common customizations.

What if the system stops working or breaks?

Email us with the specific issue. Most problems involve accidental formula deletion or automation rule changes. We can usually diagnose and fix issues via email. The reference materials include troubleshooting guides for common problems.
